Slumdog Millionaire’s super success has come as a boon for all parties involved in the film, mostly so for Oscar winners Danny Boyle and A.R Rahman.The latest buzz across the globe is that Danny Boyle has been asked to direct James Bond’s 23rd Film.‘Slumdog Millionaire’ was ably directed and Danny sure deserves every bit of what he’s getting.In fact, earlier the filmmaker was a bit distressed as there were no takers for this film and they felt it wouldn’t do good business at the box office. Neetu Chandra Agree For Bold Roles

Ram Gopal Varma Even as Rann is currently being shot across Mumbai and Delhi, the film's director Ram Gopal Varma is incorporating changes in the script and cast members. As a result, Raima Sen has been shown the door while Neetu Chandra has stepped in as her replacement. The reason given? Raima didn't suit the part. Confirms Ram Gopal Varma, "The character that was originally conceived went through changes.

As a result the present version doesn't suit Raima. This is why Neetu has been roped in." As per the original scrip! t, Raima was to play the part of Yasmin Hussain, an ex-model, who watches TV, reads gossip columns, and for most part, takes everything that is dished out to her, at face value. Someone who does not understand the
intricacies of power games, she isn't quite clever but not really innocent either. However, with the characterization going through a change, it has to be seen how exactly Neetu is required to play her part.

For Raima Sen though, an exit from a prestigious project like Rann couldn't have come at a worst time. She has been a part of five major flops in a row (Mere Khawon Mein Jo Aaye, C Kkompany, Mukhbiir, Manorama - Six Feet Under and Yatra) with only
consolation in the form of Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd which had released two years ago. No wonder, she has been left shell shocked after the news of her being replaced by the film maker was broken to her.

As for Neetu Chandra, an entry into a big project like Rann couldn't have com! e at a better time. While she was unavailable for comment, an ! industry follower comments that being a part of Rann is indeed a big moment for her. Ram Gopal Varma "She is a relatively new entrant but look at the film makers she has managed to work with in such a short duration", he says, "Having names like Madhur Bhandarkar (Traffic Signal), Priyadarshan (Garam Masala), Dibakar Banerjee (Oye Lucky Lucky Oye), Rahul Dholakia (Mumbai Cutting) and Vipul Shah (untitled) in your profile is not a small deal." With Rann, Neetu makes further progress in the big league as she gets to rub shoulders with the likes of Amitabh Bachchan in the film. Moreover, yet again she will be a part of a film that stars Parsh Rawal in a major role.

Earlier, Neetu and Paresh Rawal have come together in Garam Masala, One Two Three, Oye Lucky Lucky Oye while their Kusar Prasad Ka Bhoot will be released as well. Now in Rann, she has a major role to play which also includes a sensual dance number that would require liberal doses of skin show. Though reports are y! et to be confirmed, this very fact is said to be the reason behind her entry and Raima's ouster from the biggie. Well, if Neetu's recent photo shoots are anything to go by; one can definitely expect her to sizzle the screen in Rann. Even before signing for Rann, Neetu had made her stand clear when it came to exposing for screen.

"I have worn swimsuit in my very first film [Garam Masala] so I don't consider skin show as a big deal", she had said, "I am quite comfortable with my body and I believe that for a woman, her curves and curls should be in the right place. I can be versatile as required by the situation & the setting and can get into the
skin of any character that film makers could think of. If required, I can play a
girl next door and give me a platform and I would be your sexy next door girl." In this regard, Ram Gopal Varma has indeed got his woman for Rann where Neetu's character does demand sensuous overtones.

Now it has t! o be seen whether with Rann, Neetu does manage to justify the ! confiden ce that has been shown in her by the film maker. Also starring Ritesh Deshmukh, Gul Panag, Mohnish Behl, Sudeep, Rajat Kapoor and Rajpal Yadav as the principal protagonists, Rann is a Madhu Ghajini Mantena production and is expected to arrive before the close of 2009.

How did you bring in your birthday?
I had a get-together. I invited the people I respect.

But your best friend Shah Rukh must have beeen in South Africa for the IPL finals?
He was very much here. And of course he’ll be at my birthday get-together.

How’s the year been for you?
A lot of work covered. Now I’m 37. It’s just a number. I might give up the hair dye. I oscillate between dye and real hair. I give up the dye then I see someone older with jetblack hair and I quickly revert to my dye. Maybe when I’m 40 I’ll go officially grey.


37, and growing older. How does it feel?
Growing old is a fear that I’m facing now. I admit I worry all the time about being alone when I’m old. But you can’t fight your destiny. If I’m destined to be alone, so be it. At the end of the day we all wish for a perfect balance in our lives, but end up dealing with imbalance. Now that I’m getting older I enjoy being alone in my space.

Isn’t that a scary space to be in?
I like being the master of my days and nights. Maybe I’m getting too used to being alone, so much so that I may not enjoy having someone in my life.

I’m answerable and accountable only to my mother. She understands my passions and weaknesses. The same situation with someone else seems like a distant and strange option. A couple of years ago I! was looking for a relationship and commitment.

Iâ! €™m no l onger sure I’m ready to do that. Life is no longer a poem, novel or a book. I realize life is very different.

It’s a been a stressful year?
Stress is good. I’m happy with the stress. It’s a healthy stress. And I’m happy that our production house has undertaken so much work. It’s a new way of working for us. Dharma Productions has never been so active.

As much as I groan and complain about living out of of suitcases I completely enjoy this hyper-activity. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.


Of course it takes away from a personal life. Is that a regret?
No it’s a choice. Thinking about my personal life would make me very depressed. Better to move away from it. Work is therapeutic. It’s a healthy distraction.

Does that mean your personal life is unhappy?
It’s empty. Better that way than to fill it up unnecessarily. I’ve realized emptiness is better than unwanted clutter. I’ve lots of close friends. But I’ve no personal life.

Do you surround yourself with hyper-activity to to fight off loneliness?
It’s a conscious decision to surround myself with people who are doing quality work. I feel the people in my workplace are a family beyond an immediate family. And I feel I’ve to constantly nurture that family. It fills in all the empty spaces in my life without any expectations from me. Isn’t that a great equation?

But that’s like being exploited?I’ve been subjected to that treatment in the past. You c! an never run away the risk of being used. I’ve mastered the art of no-expectation from people around me. I’m attached to and yet detached from people around me. It’s a brilliant balance to achieve. And I’ve been able to do it. I’m able to protect myself from hurt. The level of hurt when I’m betrayed is now manageable.

Why do you have so many untried directors working for your company?
They’re the hungriest. And they come with no baggage.

But hunger to achieve is not a me! asure of talent?
It is! The hunger within them makes them tap the talent that they have. And besides these aren’t youngsters from the blue. They’ve a certain cinematic background besides a hunger to excel.

At one time I used to see those qualities in myself. When I was just starting out I used to wonder how I could be a filmmaker when I wasn’t eccentric enough to qualify as one. Now I see I’ve fallen into my own erratic pattern of existence.

And of course I’m strange, therefore qualified to be a filmmaker. My mother and the people close to me understand my strangeness. Life is as beautiful as you make it out to be. And right now I’d like to think my life is very beautiful.

Your mother went through surgery recently. Was that a reminder of her mortality?
Every time she visits the doctor I am petrified. I’ve been through the process of losing my father. Hospitals and doctors are never a happy situation. But I’m an e! xceptionally happy person. Like my mother I’m a fighter.
She’s fighting constantly to bounce back after a health scare to be there to hold my hand. To me my mother is not just a person. She’s a power I want to hold on to all my life.

My Director Thinks From Between My Legs - Kavita Kaushik

Kavita Kaushik famously known as Chandramukhi Chautala gets candid in an interview and talks about FIR and her character.

On the new season...
In the earlier seasons I use to chase Shiv and now, Ali will be after me. So in this season a man’s fantasies will entertain the audience.

There are so many dream sequences in this season which are romantic and at the same time funny. There are sequences, where he would imagine me romancing with him in gharelu attire. There are also a lot of dance sequences between us for which I will be dressing up in vibrant colours.

On FIR’s success…
It’s the character that clicked with the audience, a sexy girl who carries manly idiosyncrasies. Her accent has clicked with the masses; honestly it draws lot of male attention. Our director has got the best of comic timing.

He always has sex on his mind! So it kind of comes out in all the romantic and naughty scenes. In this season we have lot of Ali’s imagination and dreams that are portrayed beautifully, and do not look vulgar at all.

On her Haryanvi accent…
I have copied the entire personality and eccentricity from my dad to portray Chandramukhi Chautala. He’s an ex-cop, though not Haryanvi, but still he had lot of subordinates who were from north. He use to converse with them in that accent. In fact he addresses us as balko at home.

On Bollywood copying her…
Generally tele-actors tend to copy Bollywood, but I am definitely flattered that my character is copie! d by Neetu Chandra for a film. But I will never repeat the Har! yanvi ch aracter again, it is only for FIR.

There was a time when I use to do negative role, I was only offered negative roles. In fact in my last film I was asked to play a Haryanvi character, but I convinced them for Bengali.

On the sets of FIR…
We shoot for six days a week. So while we are not shooting, we actually miss the shoots. I make pani-puri for everyone.I wear a big shirt and make pani-puri for everyone.

On Shiv Pandit…
I do miss shooting with Shiv Pandit. Now when I watch the reruns I feel good about our Jodi, we look so g! ood together. I miss watching us together.

On Ali...
There is an age gap between us that is shown on-screen. He is a sweet charming chocolate boy and I am the masculine strong woman. Chocolate boy with hunterwaali is a very interesting combination.

Salman Khan's Lady Luck?

Asin has asked her producer Vipul Shah to kick off the promotions of her second film, London Dreams, with her. The actress, who made her debut last year with Ghajini, was kept under wraps till the last leg of the film's publicity and she felt she suffered due to that. She doesn't want to repeat the experience.

In Ghajini, she was debuting, therefore unimportant in the scheme of things. The film had Aamir Khan, who is available to the media only around the release of his films, so they made the most of it.

Special request
London Dreams stars Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn. Asin is being extra cautious this time. She made a special request to her London Dream! s director Vipul Shah to let her start the film's promotion ahead of the her co-stars."

Vipul says, "We have worked out on our entire campaign. Normally, it is the male leads who start the promotion of the film but we've decided to use the female lead and bring in some Lady Luck. This is her second film in Bollywood and people are anticipating a lot from her. So it was a great idea to start the campaign with her."

He disagrees that it was Asin's idea to set the ball rolling with her, "She didn't make any such conditions or request. She said it was her second film after Ghajini and that she hadn't signed any other film.

She has given her 100 per cent and also wanted the movie to be promoted well from her side. During the shooting of the film itself, she had spoken about the promotion aspect and how she will be available as and when required."

When asked if she'd get sidelined with two big male stars in the films! , he says, "Apart from friendship, it is also a love triangle.! There a re many layers to the movie; a love triangle being one of the most important ones, where Asin comes in the picture."

KRK Is Doing Bigg Boss For Money?

Kamal Rashid Khan of Deshdrohi fame has survived a nomination of BIgg Boss 3. He created a stir by going on fast till German model Claudia Ciesla said ‘I love you’ to him!

Not only is Kamal ensuring TRPs for the show he is fast getting very popular. Before he entered the ‘Bigg Boss’ house, he told us that he wasn’t the kind who planned anything, “I know that whoever be the participants on the show, I am the biggest star of them all. So I am going to win,” he said.

For Kamal, the show is very important. “‘Bigg Boss’ is the mother of all reality shows. I like to be in the ‘Bigg Boss’ house because the life I’m living right now best suits it. My hous! e is like my best friend. I can’t love anywhere except for the ‘Bigg Boss’ house,” he said.

Despite being a rich man, Kamal is honest enough to say that he is doing Bigg Boss only for the money. “Yes I chose it for money,” he said and for “Bachchan saab’s presence on the show, the high viewership and for the comfortable house it is.”
